Localgiving to Match-Fund Donations on 22nd June for Swan Transport

SWAN Transport is participating in Localgiving’s Small Charity Week Match Fund campaign on 22nd June.

We are calling on local people to help us gain extra funding through this campaign, as all donations will be match funded pound-for-pound up to £25!  Funds raised through this campaign will help to support our Access 2 Health project, which provides vital transport to people needing to get to hospital and doctors' appointments, for which we receive no regular funding.

The campaign starts at 10am on the 22nd June and will run until the fund runs out, or 23:59 on the same day - whichever comes first. During the campaign, one-time donations will be matched pound-for-pound up to £25. Local supporters can help by making a donation during the campaign. For a one-time £25 donation with Gift Aid, SWAN Transport receives £56.25!

Each year Small Charity Week celebrates and raises awareness of the essential work of the UK’s small charity sector - of the invaluable contribution that these groups make to the lives of millions of individuals, communities and causes across the UK and the rest of the world. To help SWAN Transport benefit from match funding, please visit their Localgiving page on 22nd June:

The Small Charity Week match fund has been kindly funded by the FSI and a private philanthropist.

Swan Transport Awarded Funds by Big Local Dragons' Den

Sarah Oughton putting forward Swan Transport's pitch

Swan Transport recently attended the Big Local Radstock & Westfield Dragon's Den on Friday 21st April, where there were awards of £500 available to several deserving community organisations in the local area.

Our Swan Co-Ordinator Sarah Oughton stood up to put forward Swan's pitch to the friendly Dragons, who also asked her questions about our organisation and what it does. All the local residents who attended the evening were then able to vote for up to five groups to receive an Award and Swan were one of the winners!

Sarah was ably aided by lots of toy cars representing our hard-working drivers, these went down a treat with many of the youngsters who attended at the evening. Well done Sarah!

Our grateful thanks to Sarah Westell's daughter for the photograph taken on the night.

Swan Transport Drivers Win Two Awards at Chairman’s Community Awards

Swan Driver Barbara Merrett has won a well deserved award for her years of dedicated service supporting those in her local community. She also received an engraved Bath Aqua glass plate.

Swan Transport’s dedicated team of volunteer drivers have been rewarded for all the great work they do for their local community at the Chairman’s Community Awards 2016/17!

The award ceremony took place on Thursday 9th February at the Guildhall in Bath and not only did our hard working team of drivers win the ‘Volunteer Team of the Year Award’, but our longest serving driver Barbara Merrett also won the ‘Peter Duppa Miller Lifetime Achievement Award’. Barbara has been driving for Swan since its inception and has only recently retired after many years of service.

Swan's team of volunteer drivers have also received a Bath Aqua glass engraved award, which they very much deserve for their hard work serving those in the Bath and North East Somerset area.

Our dedicated team of drivers support those within the B&NES area who are older, frail or disabled and on a low income, by taking them to things like health appointments or social activities. We receive lots of positive comments all the time about our drivers, including how our clients really appreciate being able to get out and about especially if they find it difficult to use the bus for example.

Councillor Alan Hale of Bath & North East Somerset Council presented the drivers with their awards, and Swan are very grateful to everyone who was involved with organising the Awards, as we had a lovely evening with refreshments laid on for all the many groups and individuals who attended.
